प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य का प्रयोग प्रश्न पूछने के लिए किया जाता है। Interrogative Sentences किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा, किसी वस्तु या व्यक्ति की जानकारी हासिल करने के लिए बोले जाते हैं। इन वाक्यों को बनाने के लिए अलग-अलग तरह के प्रश्नवाचक शब्दों का प्रयोग किया जाता है। नीचे दिए गए उन हरणों को पढ़ें:

Interrogative Sentences in Hindi – Definition and Examples
प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य की परिभाषा हिंदी में:– एक जिस वाक्य में कोई प्रश्न पूछा जाता है, उसे interrogative sentence कहते हैं। प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य प्रश्न पूछने के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है। प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य बनाने के लिए प्रश्नवाचक शब्दों का प्रयोग करते हैं।
जैसे की:–
1. वह कौन है? Who is he?
2. तुम्हारे पिताजी कहां हैं? Where is your father?
3. क्या तुम तेज दौड़ सकते हो? Can you run fast?
4. क्या उसने ताजमहल देखा है? Has he seen the Taj Mahal?
5. क्या तुम एक फोटोग्राफर हो? Are you a photographer?
Definition of Interrogative Sentence in Hindi:– A sentence in which a question is asked is called an interrogative sentence. Interrogative sentences are used to ask questions. Interrogative words are used to make interrogative sentences.
Note:– ऊपर दिए गए Interrogative Sentences में पहले तीन उदाहरण क्या शब्द से शुरू हुए हैं तथा आगे के 3 उदाहरणों के बीच में प्रश्नवाचक शब्द आया है। इन दो प्रकार के इंटेरोगेटिव सेंटेंसेस के बारे में हिंदी में आगे विस्तार से बताया गया है।
Types/Kinds of Interrogative Sentences
प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य प्रयोग के आधार पर दो प्रकार के होते हैं;

Yes-No Type Questions
Yes-No Type Questions का प्रयोग किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा हां अथवा ना में उत्तर पाने के लिए किया जाता है। Yes-No Type Questions को बनाने के लिए Helping Verb का प्रयोग करके बनाते हैं। हिंदी में ये वाक्य ‘क्या’ शब्द से प्रारंभ होते हैं। इन वाक्यों में ‘क्या’ शब्द की अंग्रेजी नहीं लगाते हैं। इसकी जगह helping verb का प्रयोग Subject के अनुसार लगाते हैं।
Yes-No Type Questions Structure: Helping verb + subject + verb + object +?
Examples:–
1. क्या वह गूंगा है? Is he dumb?
2. क्या वह तरुन था? Was he young?
3. क्या वे अध्यापक हैं? Are they teachers?
4. क्या राजा ईमानदार है? Is the king honest?
5. क्या तुम यह कर सकते हो? Can you do this?
6. क्या राधिका परेशान थी? Was Radhika upset?
7. क्या राजू पढ़ाई कर चुका है? Has Raju studied?
8. क्या वे राजनीति छोड़ चुके हैं? Has he left politics?
9. क्या पवन यहां पढ़ रहा है? Is Pawan studying here?
10. क्या रोशनी पार्क में खेलती है? Does Roshani play in the park?
Wh-words Type Questions
Wh-words Type Questions वाले वाक्य interrogative words से शुरू होते हैं। हिंदी वाक्य में प्रश्नवाचक शब्द वाक्य के बीच में आता है। उस प्रश्नवाचक शब्द की अंग्रेजी वाक्य के प्रारंभ में रखते हैं।

Rules:–
- सबसे पहले वाक्य में आए प्रश्नवाचक शब्द की अंग्रेजी सबसे पहले रखते हैं।
- उसके बाद सब्जेक्ट के अनुसार हेल्पिंग वर्ब रखते हैं।
- हेल्पिंग वर्ब रखने के बाद सब्जेक्ट रखते हैं।
- इसके बाद टेंस की मुख्य क्रिया रखी जाती है।
- यदि वाकई में ऑब्जेक्ट आया है तो मुखिया के बाद रखते हैं तथा उसके बाद अन्य शब्द रखे जाते हैं।

Use of What (क्या का प्रयोग)
What का प्रयोग कोई जानकारी, सूचना, दशा या स्थिति, कर्ता, क्रिया, कर्म आदि जानने के लिए करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. यह क्या है? What is this?
2. श्याम क्या पढे़गा? What will he read?
3. आप क्या जानते हो? What do you know?
4. उसके पिताजी का नाम क्या है? What is your father’s day?
5. बूढ़ा आदमी क्या खरीद रहा है? What is the old man buying?
Use of When (कब का प्रयोग)
समय जानने के लिए when का प्रयोग करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. सोहन कब खुश था? When was he free?
2. चोरों ने चोरी कब की? When did the thieves steal?
3. आप यहां से कब जाओगे? When will you go from here?
4. भारत कब आजाद हुआ? When did India become free?
5. मछुआरा बाजार कब गया? When did the fisherman go to market?
Use of Where (कहां का प्रयोग)
स्थान जानने के लिए where प्रयोग किया जाता है।
Examples:–
1. आप कहां से हो? Where are you from?
2. जैक कहां जाना चाहता था? Where did Jack want to go?
3. रेखा शाम को कहां से आयी? Where did Rekha come from?
4. मनमोहन सिंह कहां रहते हैं? Where does Mohan Singh live?
5. दादा आपको कहां मिले? Where did the grandfather meet you?
Use of Why (क्यों का प्रयोग)
Why का प्रयोग reason (कारण) के लिए करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. तुम इतनी दूर क्यों हो? Why are you so far away?
2. पवन ने आपकी मदद क्यों की? Why did the wind help you?
3. सोहन आपसे नाराज क्यों है? Why is Sohan angry with you?
4. वह शहर से बाहर क्यों गया है? Why has he gone out of town?
5. राजा प्रजा पर अत्याचार क्यों कर रहा है? Why is the king tyrannizing the subjects?
Use of Whom (किसे, किसको का प्रयोग)
किसी व्यक्ति की जानकारी के लिए whom का प्रयोग करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. सीता किसे बुला रही है? Whom is Sita calling?
2. वह कल किसे मिला? Whom did he meet yesterday?
3. कल तुमने वहां किसे देखा? Whom did you see there yesterday?
4. श्याम किसको आमंत्रित करना चाहता है? Whom does Shyam want to invite?
Use of Who (कौन का प्रयोग)
Who का प्रयोग व्यक्तियों की जानकारी के लिए करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. राजा कौन है? Who is the king?
2. छत पर कौन है? Who is on the roof?
3. आप कौन गाना गाएगा? Who will sing a song?
4. तुम पर हमला किसने किया? Who attacked you?
5. आपको जनवरी में कौन पैसे देगा? Who will give you money in January?
Use of Whose (किसका/किसकी)
किसी व्यक्ति या वस्तु का संबंध बताने के लिए whose का प्रयोग करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. यह थैला किसका है? Whose bag is this?
2. किसकी लड़की तुम्हें कब मिली? When did the girl meet you?
3. किसका पुत्र इंग्लैंड में रह रहा है? Whose son is living in England?
Use of Which (Which का प्रयोग)
Which का प्रयोग selection (चुनाव या छंटाई) के लिए करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. आपकी कलम कौन सी? Which is your pen?
2. यह कौन सा मोबाइल है? Which mobile is this?
3. सबसे बड़ा शहर कौन सा है? Which is the biggest city?
4. तुम कौन से शहर में रहना चाहते हो? In which city do you want to live?
5. भारत की सबसे लंबी नदी कौन सी है? Which is the longest river in India?
Use of How (कैसा, कैसी, कैसे)
How का प्रयोग कोई तरीका या ढंग पता करने के लिए करते हैं।
Examples:–
1. आप कैसे हो? How are you?
2. वे आपको पैसे कैसे पहुंचा रहे हैं? How are they giving you money?
3. मोहिनी अब कैसा महसूस कर रही है? How is Mohini feeling now?
4. तुम्हारे पिताजी ने तुम्हें कैसे पढ़ाया? How did your father teach you?
5. बूढ़े व्यक्ति ने नदी कैसे पार की? How did the old man cross the river?

इंटेरोगेटिव सेंटेंसेस के एग्जांपल्स हिंदी में नीचे दिए गए हैं।
1. रेल गाड़ी कहां है? Where is the train?
2. क्या वह कानपुर जाएगा? Will he go to Kanpur?
